The chemistry of courtship is an unsustainable imbalance in the brain more akin to mental illness than to any other human condition. The “chemistry” of a couple is literally different after four or five years of intimacy. Physiologically speaking, love moves from the dopamine-drenched state of romantic love to the relative quiet of an oxytocin-induced attachment.
